① 구별의 하나님 – 파리 재앙 (출 8:20–32)
하나님은 바로에게 “내 백성을 보내라, 그들이 나를 섬길 것이니라” 명하셨으나, 그가 거절하자 온 애굽에 파리떼가 덮였습니다. 그러나 고센 땅에는 파리가 없었습니다(8:22). 고센은 본래 습지라 벌레가 많을 지역이지만, 하나님은 자기 백성이 있는 곳을 구별하여 보호하셨습니다. 이는 “내가 여호와인 줄 알게 하리라”는 말씀의 표징이었습니다.
우리의 삶에서도 하나님은 여전히 자기 백성을 구별하시고 재앙 중에도 지키십니다. 그러므로 건강·시간·물질·지식 등 하나님의 것은 하나님께 온전히 돌려드려야 합니다. 하나님께 드려질 때 그것은 축복의 통로가 됩니다.

① The God Who Distinguishes – The Plague of Flies (Exod 8:20–32)
God commanded Pharaoh, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.” When he refused, swarms of flies covered Egypt—but not Goshen (8:22). Though Goshen’s wetlands would normally teem with insects, God set apart and protected His people, a sign that “you shall know that I am the LORD.”
God still distinguishes His people today and preserves them even amid calamity. Therefore we must return to God what is His—our health, time, resources, and knowledge. Offered to Him, they become channels of blessing.

② Greed Breeds Hardness – The Plague on Livestock (Exod 9:1–7)
In the fifth plague, God struck Egypt’s livestock, yet not a single animal of Israel died (9:4–6). Cattle, horses, camels, and donkeys embodied Egypt’s economy, military strength, and idolatry. By striking them, God revealed that He alone governs life.
Pharaoh’s economic greed kept Israel in bondage, leading to ruin for himself and his nation. Greed blinds our vision and hardens the heart. When profit outranks God, we step onto the path of judgment.

③ God’s Power Surpasses Limits – The Plague of Boils (Exod 9:8–12)
The sixth plague began with two handfuls of furnace soot. When Moses cast it heavenward, boils broke out on people and animals throughout Egypt. What is impossible for humans is not impossible for God. Even the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils. Human skill and pride collapse before God’s authority; our task is to trust His timing and ways.
