[2025-10-20] Suffering Is Not the End — It Is the Signal to Leave Egypt(Exodus 1 and the Principle of Faith)
Exodus chapter 1 is not just an ancient story. The oppression of Israel in Egypt mirrors the world we live in today. Faith does not guarantee an easy life. In fact, those who cling to faith often face greater pressure and resistance. Yet the Bible declares this truth: suffering is not the end — it is a divine signal. A command to move forward. A sign that God’s promise is already in motion.
Israel did not go down to Egypt by their own strategy. Jacob did not plan it. Joseph did not control it. God led them there to preserve them in famine, and even in that foreign land His covenant was quietly unfolding. When Joseph and his generation died, people thought God’s plan had vanished. But the Scripture says, “The Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and became exceedingly powerful; and the land was filled with them” (Exodus 1:7). Even when people didn’t feel it — the promise was already working.
Then came fear. Egypt saw Israel’s growth as a threat. They enslaved them, forced labor upon them, and eventually ordered the death of every Hebrew baby boy. From a human standpoint, it was utter despair. Yet the Bible overturns the narrative with one stunning line: “But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied.” This is God’s way — the paradox of divine strength revealed under pressure.
People often ask, “Why does suffering come even when I believe?” Exodus 1 flips the question: “Suffering comes because God is with you.” The world never fears the powerless. Egypt feared Israel. The enemy always attacks what threatens it. Opposition is not proof of failure — it is evidence that spiritual victory has already begun.
Had Israel remained comfortable in Egypt, the Exodus would never have begun. Comfort feels like blessing, but it can numb the soul. God sometimes stirs us through hardship to say, “This is not your resting place. I have prepared something greater.” Suffering is not the end of the road — it is the doorway.
The Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, disobeyed Pharaoh’s murderous decree. They “feared God and let the boys live.” Faith is not the absence of fear — it is choosing the greater fear. Pharaoh was powerful, but God was greater. And Scripture says, “God blessed the midwives, and the people increased even more.” The world tried to subtract — God added.
Today, after pandemic, economic strain, and spiritual fatigue, many feel stuck. But I must say this: this is not the season of collapse — it is the beginning of your Exodus. Suffering is not the end of faith — it is the birth of calling. Do not tremble before hardship. Declare:
“This trial is not breaking me — it is positioning me for Exodus.”
After suffering comes divine action. The God who was faithful to Israel is faithful still. If you are in hardship today, know this — God has not abandoned you. In fact, this is the moment He is moving.
